A main valve element (10) is installed in a housing (3) which is provided in an electronic on-off valve (1). A pilot passage (18) is formed in the main valve element (10). A pilot valve element (11) is inserted into the main valve element (10) so as to open and close the pilot passage (18). The pilot valve element (11) and the main valve element (10) are configured to interlock with the movement of a plunger (12) which is movable in the opening direction. The plunger (12) and the pilot valve element (11) are connected by a connecting pin (28) which is inserted through these two parts. The connecting pin (28) is provided in such a way as to be capable of relative displacement with respect to the pilot valve element (11). Furthermore, when the main valve element (10) is pushed in the opening direction, the plunger (12) stops relative movement of the main valve element (10) with respect to the plunger (12) before the connecting pin (28) comes into contact with the pilot valve element (11). On the basis of the above, it is possible to provide an electromagnetic valve such that no shear force acts on a connecting pin during a process wherein a main valve element is pushed and wherein thereby a valve orifice is opened.
