FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: repeated X-ray exposure of areas of a welded joint on whose initial X-ray images there were suspicious stripes and spots is carried out, while placing a lead filter at the output window of the X-ray tube. Image quality indicators and imitator samples with grooves are simultaneously placed on the inspected areas during initial exposure, and at the most suspicious area of the inspected welded joint, the required conditions for repeated X-ray exposure are determined: type of radiographic film, thickness of the lead filter and voltage across the X-ray tube, at which on the repeated image, while ensuring the required inspection sensitivity or all images of suspicious origin on the initial image at normal exposure time are eliminated or are partially eliminated at maximum acceptable exposure time, after which at said selected conditions, suspicious areas of the article are repeatedly exposed, where the structural origin of the identified images on the initial image are confirmed upon their elimination on the repeated image, having inspection sensitivity not worse than the required for the initial image, or a sharp drop in their contract compared to contrast of grooves of the imitator sample. ^ EFFECT: high reliability of identifying X-ray images of suspicious origin. ^ 1 dwg |
