<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for contributing to facilitate determining portions of foreign particles deposition that causes an image formation defect. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device includes: a line sensor S for reading a toner image that is held and transported; a defective region detecting unit for detecting an image formation defective region based on the image read by the line sensor S; and a determining unit that determines which rotating body of a plurality of kinds of rotating bodies having peripheral surfaces contacted with the toner image formed in image formation processing has the same length as the length of spacing among the detected plurality of image formation defective regions in the sub-scanning direction, in a case where the plurality of image formation defective regions detected by the defective region detecting unit locates at the same positions in the main scanning direction while locating at different positions to one another in the sub-scanning direction, and further determines that the image formation defective regions lying at the same spacing, of which the length is the same as the peripheral length of a determined rotating body, from one another are caused by a peripheral surface state of the determined rotating body having the same peripheral length as that of the spacing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
