Provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling a video recording in a black box for a vehicle. The method for controlling the video recording in the black box for a vehicle according to the present invention, for example, comprises the steps of: storing a video including images of a driving vehicle; obtaining the possibility of an accident with the vehicle; and variably adjusting one or more image quality, resolution, and a frame number of the video recorded in a camera according to the obtained accident possibility. The limited capacity of storage can be used by adopting the configuration. In addition, the monitoring and storage performance of the black box for a vehicle can be improved by correctly determining causes of a vehicle accident.
