<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of discharge failures in a recording head. <P>SOLUTION: A printer includes: an inkjet head; a maintenance unit preventing the discharge failures of the head; an ink cartridge including an ink bag, an ink outlet tube communicating with the ink bag and including a first valve and a second valve, an opening and closing mechanism switching the second valve between an open state and a closed state, a photosensor detecting the open and closed states of the second valve, and a storage part storing data for showing a predetermined time; an actuator operating the opening and closing mechanism; an attachment part to which the ink cartridge is attached; a sensor detecting that a housing is started to be attached to the attachment part; and a control part. The control part calculates the time between the time when the sensor of the attachment part detects the housing and the time when the photosensor detects the open state of the second valve and controls the maintenance unit so as to perform maintenance for the head, when the time is less than a predetermined time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
