<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of a soft-nitriding mechanical structural component excellent in fatigue strength and bending correctability. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: preparing a steel comprising, by mass, 0.20-0.50% C, 0.10-0.50% Si, 0.60-1.60% Mn, ≤0.05% P, ≤0.10% S, 0.03-0.40% Cr, 0.003-0.050% Ti, 0.001-0.050 Al, 0.003-0.030% N and the balance Fe with impurities, and satisfying [1.30<0.5Si+Mn+4Cr+8Al+10Tieff<2.40]; performing the hot forging at a finishing temperature of 850-1,250°C and at the average cooling rate of 5°C/sec from the finishing temperature to 300°C; processing the steel into a component shape; performing the soft-nitriding treatment of the processed steel in a temperature region of 620-700°C; and continuously cooling to the region of 450-600°C and heat-treating in such a temperature region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
