The present invention is directed to a method for converting lignocellulosic biomass into fiber mass. A lignocellulosic biomass is introduced into a reactor. An acid catalyst and steam are introduced into the reactor. A fiber mass having a moisture content less than about 30% by weight of fiber mass is removed from the reactor.
