<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke detector system that produces a signal that activates a fire suppression system for suppressing fire in an aircraft area. <P>SOLUTION: The smoke detector system 20 includes a smoke detector sensor 26 and an oxygen sensor 22 mounted within a housing 38. The smoke detector system 20 integrates the oxygen sensor 22, the smoke detector sensor 26, and optionally a pressure sensor 24 within a single unit which provides smoke identification throughout a cargo bay 12. The smoke detector system 20 may further include a light source 28 such that the smoke detector system 20 can be mounted within a cargo bay liner 16 to which a light unit is conventionally mounted. A controller 50 communicates with the smoke detector system 20.
