PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial gap type rotary electric machine in which a rotator can move in a rotary shaft direction at a low cost with a simple structure.

SOLUTION: The axial gap type rotary electric machine comprises: first and second bearings (50a and 50b) for supporting a rotary shaft (40); a first stator (20) which is fixed to a housing (60) and has a plurality of magnetic cores (20e) with windings; a second stator (30) arranged in the housing; a rotator (10) which is arranged on the rotary shaft so as to be arranged between the first and second stators, has a plurality of magnetic field members (10i) and is movable to the first stator side or the second stator side; a first stopper (70a) which controls a range of moving the rotator to the first stator side; and a second stopper (70b) which controls a range of moving the rotator to the second stator side.
