Disclosed is an information storage apparatus, wherein information files such as original image data and live-recording data deposited by users are stored safely within a service server on the network, and the information files can be used easily by various services provided by the service server. The information storage apparatus (100) is provided with a first storage apparatus (101) that users can utilize free of charge; a first storage apparatus (101) that is fee-charged, and that is for storing information files safely; a second storage apparatus (102) that is provided when a product is bought, and that can be utilized free of charge; and an information service server (103) that controls these apparatuses. The information service server (103) stores information files deposited by network terminals (50) and terminal apparatuses (300) of the users, via the network (30), into either the first storage apparatus (101) or the second storage apparatus (102) according to the users' request, and various services provided by the information service server (103), excluding storing and reading services, cannot be used for information files in the first storage apparatus (101), but duplicates of the files are stored in both a local backup system (200) provided at the same site as the information storage apparatus (100), and in a remote backup system (500) located at a remote location.
