A method for updating air interface key, a core network node and a wireless access system thereof are provided by the present invention. Wherein, the method for updating air interface key comprises: the core network node receives a transfer completion indication message of a target RNC (S502), said transfer completion indication message is used for indicating the successful transfer of a User Equipment (UE) from a source RNC to a target RNC; the core network node computes the enhanced key of the next hop by using the stored traditional key and the current enhanced key (S504); the core network node sends the enhanced key of the next hop to the target RNC (S506). The application of the present invention guarantees the forward security of users effectively, thereby improving the communication security of the wireless access system in whole.
