METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING MAMMALIAN CELLS BY MALDI-TOF MASS SPECTROMETRY ON WHOLE CELLS

The present invention relates to a method for identifying a given type of mammalian cells in a biological sample, to be analyzed, which may contain mammalian cells, characterized in that the following successive steps are carried out, in which steps: 1/ at least one reference spectrum of at least one reference sample of at least one given type of mammalian cells is established by "MALDI-TOF" ("matrix-assisted-laser-desorption-ionization- time-of flight") mass spectrometry, and 2/ if necessary, the whole cells contained in said biological sample to be analyzed are extracted so as to obtain an extract of eukaryotic cells, and 3/ a spectrum of a said extract of whole cells obtained in step 2/ is produced by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, and 4/ the spectrum obtained in step 3/ is compared with a plurality of reference spectra produced in step 1/ from a plurality of reference samples of a plurality of various given types of mammalian cells.
