<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document conveying device and an image reader which securely read a preceding document and its following document even if a document interval is shorter than a predetermined interval. <P>SOLUTION: The document conveying device includes: a conveying means for conveying a document to the reading section of the image reader which reads the document; a paper discharging section for discharging the document having passed through the reading section; an inverting means for inverting the document; and a detecting means for detecting whether an interval between a preceding document and a succeeding document is shorter than a predetermined interval. The conveying means and paper discharging means are driven by a single drive motor. When the detecting means detects that the document interval is shorter than the predetermined distance, the succeeding document is inverted by the inverting means, and the inverted document is conveyed to the reading section by the conveying means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
