<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of cracks in a glass plate, thereby improving the safety thereof. <P>SOLUTION: When a front edge section 13c of a top plate 1 is engaged with an engaging section 31 by an engaging piece 13d and a rear edge section 13b of the top plate is fixed to a fixing section 21 by fixing means 5, the middle section of a glass plate 11 is deformed in a downward direction by first and second deforming means 30 and 6, so that stress in a compressive direction acts on the surface in the middle section of the glass plate.
