<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method of manufacturing a medium diameter sugi (Japanese cedar) logs, to increase the demand of the sugi products, and to revitalize sugi forestry. <P>SOLUTION: A long plate 2 obtained by dividing a raw wood 1 of the desired length of the medium diameter sugi logs into a desired thickness is cut to a short size in a desired length to prepare a baseboard 3, and the ones having no gnarl or scratch are selected. Then, a required number of the baseboards 3 are laminated, the obtained laminated bodies are arranged side by side and are dried in the sun, and then, are dried in the dehumidification condition. Next, deformation of the dried baseboard is corrected, and the rectangular plate in the suitable length is obtained. A plurality of the plates are arranged side by side in the width direction, are bonded, and are joined by a finger joint 8 in the longitudinal direction to have the desired length.
