<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording media that has excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics and can be employed in high density recording by using a finer magnetic particle of granular-structured magnetic layer and widening the grain boundary width of the magnetic particle. <P>SOLUTION: In a magnetic recording media in which a granular magnetic layer is formed on a substrate by sputtering process, the granular magnetic layer is constituted of multiple magnetic particles including Co alloy and an oxide that separates the multiple magnetic particles. The average particle diameter of the magnetic particles of the granular magnetic layer is made 6 nm or less, and the average grain boundary width 1.5 nm or more by the sputtering process using a target including cobalt oxide and not including Cr or Cr alloy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
