<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control technology capable of flexibly coping with addition/change of an item that can be operated remotely, with no dedicated server required. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic mail (menu notification mail, operation content notification mail) is utilized for transmission of the information about remote-operable item in content operation and presence operation of telephone function to a portable terminal 2 from a telephone terminal 1, and utilized for transmission of the information about remote operation execution item in content operation and presence operation of telephone function to the telephone terminal 1 from the portable terminal 2. The portable terminal 2 extracts the information about remote-operable item from the menu notification mail received from the telephone terminal 1, and displays an operation screen based on the extracted information, and then accepts, from a user, remote operation of the telephone terminal.
