<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in driving an automobile that it is difficult for slow-moving users such as an immature driver and an elderly person to skillfully operate a brake pedal and an accelerator pedal by one foot, and a problem that an automobile may accidentally run during parking when a user forgets to lock a side brake. <P>SOLUTION: In a one-pedal device for an automobile, a driver performs accelerator and brake operations by one pedal. When the driver takes his/her foot off the pedal, the brake is fully applied in a pedal-released state. Then, when he/she steps on the pedal, the brake is released. During the following accelerator operation, the rotation speed of an engine or motor is increased. Stepping beyond the upper limit of the accelerator operation causes the brake operation to be performed again. When the driver pedals up to the pedaling limit, the brake is fully applied. This one-pedal device for an automobile improves safety because it prevents driver's wrong pedaling and facilitates driving, and eliminates accidental starting when a driver forgets to lock a side brake. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
