<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved TMC (titanium matrix composite material) wire/fiber ring array which is capable of definitely arranging each component in every layer, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A wire/fiber ring has two layers at each of four positions in a clockwise direction. Every layer has a first strand 56a having a first diameter and a second strand 52b having a second diameter which differs from the first diameter. The second or subsequent layer is arranged between adjacent layers so that the strand is positioned in a predetermined position. After the aforementioned arrangement was formed, in the following compaction step, a wire is overlaid around the aforementioned arrangement, and the thus formed arrangement is hermetically sealed under a vacuum condition. After heating and pressurizing, the wire/fiber arrangement has a porosity of about 12% and a fiber ratio within the range of from 0% to 70%, and preferably, from 30% to 45%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
