OPTICAL RECEIVER, OPTICAL RECEPTION METHOD AND OPTICAL RECEIVER CONTROL PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver which is capable of searching an optimum dispersion compensation value with high accuracy and realizes stable dispersion compensation control even in an optical transmission line susceptible to polarization dispersion.

SOLUTION: There is provided an optical receiver which comprises: optical reception means that receives optical signals having respective polarization states and transforms them into electric signals; error rate detection means that detects bit error rates of the electric signals output from the optical reception means; maximum value detection means that detects a maximum bit error rate as a maximum value of the bit error rates detected by the error rate detection means; dispersion compensation control means that uses the maximum bit error rate detected by the maximum value detection means to calculate a dispersion compensation value; and variable dispersion compensation means that uses the dispersion compensation value to make dispersion compensation for waveform deterioration of the optical signals received by the optical reception means.
