<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL material which has characteristics of both of benzofluoranthene structure and anthracene structure and is excellent in stability. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL element has at least one layer of an organic compound layer which includes a compound represented by the following general formula (I). (In the formula, L represents a coupling group, and couples any one of portions 1 to 12 and any one of portions 13 to 22. Uncoupled portions among 1 to 22 are substituted by any of a hydrogen atom, a substituted or an unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or an unsubstituted heterocyclic group, a substituted or an unsubstituted alkyl group, and an aromatic amino group.
