<p>A capacitive load 2, which may be a piezoelectric inkjet print head, is driven by first coupling an inductor 6 to a low voltage supply 4 through switches 10 and 11 and then turning off switch 11 so that inductor current charges the load 2. The switch 11 is turned on to end the charging of the load 2. The switch 12 is turned on to discharge the load 2, energy being returned to the inductor 6 though the transformer 7. The inductor current may be regulated by a loop including sense resistor 24, comparator 19 and switch 10.</p> |
