<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for opening a glass fiber woven fabric, which reduce variations in the yarn width of glass fiber yarn bundles after treatment. <P>SOLUTION: In the opening apparatus 1, a glass fiber woven fabric 200 is transported in the X direction by the driving of rollers 31-34 and immersed in an aqueous liquid W1 in an upper vessel 10. Ultrasonic vibration is generated by the vibration of a vibrator 40 of an ultrasonic generator placed in a lower vessel 20. The vibration propagates, via an aqueous liquid W2, to the regions of a bottom part 11 and a side part 12 of the upper vessel 10 which are in contact with the aqueous liquid W2, and the vibration propagates to the aqueous liquid W1 through the vibration of the bottom part 11 and the side part 12. Thereby, the ultrasonic vibration is applied to the glass fiber woven fabric 200 in the aqueous liquid W1 in the upper vessel 10 so as to effect the opening of the glass fiber woven fabric 200. The vibration in the aqueous liquid W1 becomes uniform, thus suppressing variations in the yarn width of the glass fiber woven fabric 200 which has been opened by this vibration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
