The device comprises an interface for reading the information about the position of headlights or rear lights (r2) of a vehicle (F2). The images of a camera system (K) of the vehicle or the beam angle changes are read in the device, where the device is provided for generating the information from the images. The device is arranged for determining the road arrangement in front of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for forecasting a road arrangement in front of a vehicle, particularly a motor vehicle.
