<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new curable composition that provides a resin molded product having a high refractive index and excellent transparency and uses a relatively inexpensive monomer component, the resin molded product formed also having good performance in heat resistance, light resistance, etc., and an optical material obtained by using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: Assuming that the total amount of a 4,4'-dimercapto diaryl sulfone compound having a specific structure and a compound copolymerizable with the 4,4'-dimercapto diaryl sulfone compound is 100 wt.%, the curable composition contains 5-90 wt.% of the 4,4'-dimercapto diaryl sulfone compound and 10-95 wt.% of the compound copolymerizable with the 4,4'-dimercapto diaryl sulfone compound.
