<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a bentonite compact having a smooth surface and a substantially spherical shape easily and effectively. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing bentonite compacts comprises: a granulation step in which bentonite powder is mixed with water and the mixture is made into bentonite compacts in a wet state by extrusion granulation; a tumbling granulation step in which each of the bentonite compacts is formed into a substantially spherical shape by tumbling granulation; and a drying step in which the bentonite compacts (wet pellets) 11 is dried to make the compacts highly dense by dry shrinkage. In the drying step, the bentonite compacts are put into a cylindrical drying cell 21 which is installed horizontally, and then the bentonite compacts are mixed and dried in the cylindrical drying cell 21 by hot air while rotating the drying cell and sending the hot air into the drying cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
