<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass excellent in antibacterial property which is in demand for use as a touch panel or in the medical field. <P>SOLUTION: In a soda-lime glass produced by the floating method whereby molten glass is shaped into a plate while floating and conveying the molten glass over a molten tin bath, the glass surface of the soda-lime glass which is in contact with the molten tin shows a ratio (Sn/Si) of Sn X-ray intensity to Si X-ray intensity of 0.0050 or smaller as measured by fluorescent X-ray spectroscopy, and the glass is immersed in a strengthening salt bath of mixed molten salts containing potassium and an antibacterial substance, thereby chemically strengthening the glass and, at the same time, loading the antibacterial substance on the glass. Thus, the antibacterial glass having a visible light transmittance of 80% or greater at a thickness of 4 mm can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
