A suspension system for use on a tracked vehicle comprises: a suspension unit 1 having a chamber arranged to contain a fluid; a piston 22 slidably disposed within the chamber so as to act on the fluid; and a sensor 32 arranged to measure load data relating to the load through the suspension unit 1. The suspension system also comprises a diagnostics processor 102 which is arranged to receive the load data measured by the sensor 32 of the suspension unit 1, and diagnose the suspension unit 1 as abnormal if the load data received is determined to be abnormal. There is further provided a display 106 arranged to display if the suspension unit 1 is diagnosed as abnormal. The suspension system may comprise several suspension units 1, each including a sensor 32, 32', 32"... the load data from which is diagnosed by the diagnostic processor 102 and compared with reference data stored in a memory 104 and if deemed abnormal is then output on the display 106.
