<p>A method for localizing a specific path section from a first digitalized map of a road network in a second digitalized map of the road network is disclosed. The invention provides for the path section to be perceived as a black/white or coloured road detail image, in which the streets are discernable by means of distinguishable grey or colour levels; in the road detail image hard grey or colour transition steps are converted into soft grey or colour gradients and the soft-focus road detail image is transformed by means of a specific transformation, a second road detail image in the second map is fixed in a presumed vicinity of the specific path section, hard grey or colour transition steps in the second road detail image are converted into soft grey or colour gradients and the soft-focus road detail image is transformed by means of the specific transformation; and finally transformation coefficients are compared with each other in order to determine the location of the specific path section in the second map from an evaluation of the transformation coefficients. A system for carrying out such a method is also disclosed.</p> |
