<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision prediction apparatus that predicts whether a target detected ahead of a vehicle passes by on the left side or the right side of the vehicle, on the basis of the position of the target relative to the vehicle, to properly estimate the possibility of a collision between the vehicle and the target. <P>SOLUTION: The collision prediction apparatus comprises: target detecting means for detecting a target ahead of a vehicle; relative position calculating means for calculating a position of the target relative to the vehicle; passage prediction information setting means for setting passage prediction information as to whether the target passes by on the left side or the right side of the vehicle, on the basis of the relative position; relative position monitoring means for monitoring a change in the relative position; passage prediction information changing means for changing the passage prediction information set by the passage prediction information setting means, on the basis of the change in the relative position; and collision probability estimating means for estimating the probability of a collision between the vehicle and the target, on the basis of the passage prediction information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
