<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding bearing of an internal combustion engine which is excellent in foreign matter discharging property. <P>SOLUTION: In this sliding bearing of an internal combustion engine which is obtained as a cylindrical bearing 10 by combining a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings 20, 30 with each other, a circumferential oil groove 22 extending in the circumferential direction is formed in the inner peripheral surface 20a of the one bearing 20. An axial groove A is present between the circumferential end face 24a of the bearing 20 and the circumferential end face 30a of the other bearing 30 opposed thereto along the entire length of the circumferential end face 24a in the axial direction which is the same direction as the rotating direction R of a crankshaft among both circumferential end faces 24a, 24b of the bearing 20. The circumferential oil groove 22 communicates with the axial groove A, the depths of the circumferential oil groove 22 and the axial groove A at the communication part are different from each other, and the bottom of the circumferential oil groove 22 is deviated from the bottom of the axial groove A to the bearing inner peripheral surface 20a side.
