摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve brightness of a picture display device using electron emission elements. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device comprises: electron emission elements; a transparent substrate; and a photonic crystal structure in which materials having a different refractive index are alternately aligned; an anode electrode provided on the photonic crystal structure; and a phosphor layer which is provided on the anode electrode and contains phosphor particles. In the phosphor layer, the average grain diameter of the contained phosphor particles is different between the surface of the phosphor layer and the inside of the phosphor layer, first phosphor particles having an average grain diameter of 500 nm or less are contained the inside of the phosphor layer contains first phosphor particles having an average grain diameter of 500 nm or less, and second phosphor particles whose average grain diameter is less than that of the first phosphor particles are contained in the surface of the phosphor layer and ranges from 20 nm or more to 140 nm or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
