The transmitter has a head (10) to accommodate electronic component (11) that is connected with a sensor (14) arranged inside a protective tube (13). The protective tube is projected into a process vessel (20) that includes process medium (21) whose temperature is to be measured. A thermoelectric transducer (32) supplies electric power to the electronic component. A low thermal conductivity spacer (36) is arranged between protective tube and thermoelectric transducer, so as to protect thermoelectric transducer from excessive operating temperature.
