<p>Disclosed is a curtain air bag device configured in such a way that a curtain air bag capable of inflation and deployment is subjected not only to the inflating force of the curtain air bag body section but also to the biasing force caused by the inflation of a gas introduction section, with the consequence that that a roof lining is pushed open toward the interior of a vehicle, resulting in the curtain air bag being inflated and deployed in the interior of the vehicle. The gas introduction section (1b) is folded up on a side surface of that portion of a folded body of the curtain air bag body section (1A) which is on the side of a roof side section (10). If a side of the vehicle is collided with or if the vehicle turns over, an inflator (3) is activated in such a way as to emit gas, the gas is supplied to the curtain air bag (1), and the curtain air bag (1) starts to inflate. In this case, the gas from the inflator (3) first flows into the gas introduction section (1b), thereby inflating the gas introduction section (1b). Due to the above, the inflating force of the curtain air bag body section (1A) and the inflating pressure of the gas introduction section (1b) are superimposed on each other, and press the lower edge of a roof side garnish (11) inward toward the interior of the vehicle.</p> |
