<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which is excellent in activities of presticides or activities of herbicides. <P>SOLUTION: There are provide novel C<SB POS="POST">2</SB>phenyl-substituted cyclic keto-enols of formula (I), a method for producing the C<SB POS="POST">2</SB>phenyl-substituted cyclic keto-enols and their use as presticides and herbicides. As the examples of the compound, various 3-aryl pyrrolidine-2, 4-dione derivatives or the like are cited. Mixtures with the other known active compounds such as fungicides, insecticides, acarcides, nematocides, bird repellants and drugs of improving plant nutrient and soil structure are possible as well.
