<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a notch roll having an edge member which is excellent in precision and durability, the method manufacturing the notch roll at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: One or more deep pores 6 are formed in a roll raw material 5, the pores 6 being parallel to the axis of the roll raw material, and alloy powder 7, which is excellent in corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance, is charged into the deep pores 6 of the roll raw material 5 to form a capsule 9. Then, the capsule 9 is subjected to HIP (hot isostatic pressing) processing to form the HIP layers 12 of the alloy powder in the deep pores of the roll raw material 5. Then, the roll raw material 5 is subject to cutting processing to be cylindrical so that parts of the HIP layers 12 may appear on the external periphery part of the roll raw material 5, and notch grooves 3 are formed between the external periphery of the roll raw material 5 and the HIP layers 12, the notch grooves 3 being parallel to the axis of the roll raw material 5, and the HIP layer 12 parts, which look onto the notch grooves 3, are subjected to finishing processing to form the edge parts 4 of the notch roll 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
