GATE CONTROL CIRCUIT IN ELECTRIC POWER CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent switching elements in series connection from a DC short circuit accident and reduce the number of light guides for gate pulse signals.

SOLUTION: A gate control circuit includes: gate driving circuits that drive switching elements in series connection; gate signal generating means that generate reference signals given to the gate driving circuits and have interlock means; a light distribution circuit that receives signals transmitted optically from the gate signal generating means and distributes the optical signals to the gate driving circuits; means for supplying an output of the light distribution circuit to the each gate driving circuit; a gate signal monitoring means that monitors outputs of the gate driving circuits and gives feedback to the light distribution circuit; a logical operation means that determines a feedback signal as OFF when the all feedback signals of the gate signal monitoring means are off and as ON when one of the any feedback signals is on; and a transmission means that converts an output of the logical operation means into light and transmit the light to the gate signal generation means. The output of the transmission means is reflected into interlock conditions of the interlock means.
