PURPOSE: A display device is provided to make the number of switching devices smaller than the number of light source blocks, thereby reducing the number of the components of a backlight device. CONSTITUTION: A backlight device generates light. A display panel receives light to display an image. The backlight device includes an operating circuit(110) and p light source blocks(LB1~LB9). The operating circuit outputs an operating voltage. A light source block receives an operating voltage through a first terminal, receives a reference voltage through a second terminal, and generates light. The operating circuit comprises a first switching unit(130) and a second switching unit(140). The first switching unit applies an operating voltage to the first terminal of light source blocks. The second switching unit applies a reference voltage to the second terminal of the light source blocks.
