Disclosed is a battery, comprising battery elements further comprising positive and negative electrode plates and separators insulating same; and a battery casing wherein a plurality of storage spaces are disposed that store the battery elements, said storage spaces separated by partitions, with the battery elements stored in each storage space of the battery casing. The battery elements are provided with positive collector plates that are connected to the positive electrode plates, and negative collector plates that are connected to the negative electrode plates, respectively on opposing lateral faces. Portions of the respective positive and negative collector plates are protruding portions that protrude from a range along the lateral faces of the battery elements opposite from the bottom faces of the storage spaces of the battery casing. Holes are formed in the partitions of the battery casing in a range that is opposite to the protruding portions of the positive and negative electrode plates, and the collector plates of adjacent battery elements are connected via the holes. Projection parts are formed at sites on at least either the partitions or the collector plates within a range between the holes and the connection sites of the connector plates and the electrode plates, said projection parts maintaining intervals between the partitions and the collector plates.
