<p>623,051. Sampling liquids. OREALMAROC. Oct. 4, 1946, No. 29631. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1945. [Class 106(v)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A device for drawing off small measured samples from a flowing liquid or a flow of continuously manufactured liquid comprises a rotary distributing means in a main channel through which the liquid is caused to flow by a feed pump synchronized with the movement of two pumps to cause a metered fraction of the liquid to flow into a mixing device at the same time as a metered quantity of another liquid. Once in each revolution of the rotary distributing means 7 a solid vane 7b obstructs the flow of liquid through the main channel 1. 1<SP>1</SP> at the same time as liquid is drawn by a piston 5 through an opening 7c in the rotary distributing means 7 and a passage 4 into a piston chamber 2. A piston 6 connected with the piston 5 draws a suitable solvent into another piston chamber 3 through a passage 12. At the return stroke of the pistons 5, 6 both liquid and solvent are forced through a pipe connection 10 into a mixing device (not shown), check valves 11, 15 preventing back-flow and a needle-valve 16 permitting the escape of excess liquid into the main supply channel 1, 1' to ensure that an exact quantity of liquid enters the mixing device for testing.</p> |
