<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing material for knee that prevents an increase in material cost and manufacturing manhour, and exhibits high energy absorbency as designed by preventing large scattering in the initial stage of a collision to a height of the knee having an individual difference. <P>SOLUTION: A body part 12 of the shock absorbing material 10 for knee is formed as a solid structure made of hard polyurethane foam. The body part 12 is arranged in a part facing a knee part of an occupant seated on a front seat. A groove 30 is also formed along the vertical direction on a collision surface 12A of the body part 12. When the knee part M1 of the occupant M collides with the collision surface 12A of the body part 12 of the shock absorbing material 10 for knee, the groove 30 reduces load concentration on the collision surface 12A in the initial stage of the collision. The shock absorbing energy quantity in the middle and latter stages of the collision can be stably secured even with respect to the height of the knee different by physical constitution, by preventing a large crack and large scattering of the body part 12 of the shock absorbing material 10 for knee in the initial stage of the collision by distributing a load. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
