A sampling port (10) has a tubular body (12) defining a tubular space (20) with a guard cap (14) mounted within and a cannula (24) mounted at a closed end. The tubular body (12) has flexible arms (34) having protrusions (36, 38) that extend into the tubular space (20). The protrusions (38) underlie a part of the guard cap (30) and prevent movement toward the cannula (24). The arms (34) have angled surfaces (37) that also extend into the tubular space that are engaged by the cap or bung (58) of a sample bottle or vial (56) as the bottle or vial (56) is pushed into the sampling port (10). This causes the arms (34) to flex radially outwards, releasing the guard cap (30) and allowing the bottle or vial (56) to be impaled on the cannula (24).
|
