<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control valve type lead-acid battery which has better high-rate discharge characteristics than conventional ones, making it suitable as a main power supply for electric vehicles. <P>SOLUTION: A control valve type lead-acid battery comprises an electrode plate group consisting of positive and negative electrode plates and a separator and an electrolyte which are accommodated in a resin battery container. In this battery, the ratio S/V of a sum total S of opposed areas of positive and negative electrode plates relative to the cubic volume V of the electrode plate group is made to be in the range 4.1 to 5.5 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>, and 1.1 mass% or more of a lignin compound is included in a negative electrode active material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
