PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reproducing a shield type lead-acid battery that easily and stably reproduces and prolongs the lifetime of the shield type lead-acid battery having deteriorated due to a sulfation phenomenon including an occluded shield type lead-acid battery which is completely discharged to a voltage of 0 V and a shield type lead-acid battery which is dried up as sulfation advances.
SOLUTION: A lead sulfate coating on a surface of an electrode is subjected to dissolution and reduction by generating heat between a positive electrode and a negative electrode by connecting the plus terminal of a power source to the positive electrode and the minus terminal of the power source to the negative electrode and applying a DC voltage of 20 to 30 V after adding a nonionic dispersant solution to the shield type lead-acid battery, and impregnating the electrodes with the dispersant solution and dispersing the dispersant solution. Preferably, a constant-current discharge is started as a current increases with reduction of the lead sulfate coating thereafter, so that a current value does not exceed 0.5 A per unit cell on average, and a fine pulse current of ±2 to ±5 V in voltage amplitude is applied 4,000 to 7,000 times in every second, at a time when the voltage value is reduced to 15 to 20 V, to dissolve and reduce the lead sulfate coating with impacts of pulses.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
