<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray generator in which an X-ray irradiation angle can be widened and an X-ray emission unit can be cooled efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: In an X-ray tube 20, an opening end 27 projecting forward from a flange 26 in a cylindrical body 25 holds a target 31, and the opening end 27 is arranged in a through hole 4a of a front panel 4 of the X-ray generator. The target 31 is thereby located near the outside surface of the front panel 4. Furthermore, the front panel 4 and the cylindrical body 25 have thermal conductivity, and the flange 26 of the cylindrical body 25 is in contact with the front panel 4 of the X-ray generator.
