<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery monitoring device for a vehicle, comprising a radar that detects an object around the vehicle, a camera that captures an image around the vehicle, and means for identifying a predetermined region corresponding the position of the object detected by the radar in the corresponding image captured by the camera, and identifying the object within the predetermined region. <P>SOLUTION: The periphery monitoring device comprises means for calculating a phase shift amount between the time variation of the movement amount of the prescribed region in the identified corresponding image and the time variation of the movement amount of the predetermined object in the image captured by the camera, phase correction means that performs phase correction of the output signal of the radar or the camera so that the phase shift amount becomes zero, and a determination means that determines that the radar or the camera has an optical axis deviation if the direction of the position deviation of the prescribed region with respect to the predetermined object in the corresponding image is always the same, and determines that there is a synchronization shift between the radar and the camera if the direction of the position deviation of the prescribed region is opposite to the moving direction of the predetermined object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
