The rear side underbody structure (10) has two longitudinal bars (12) and an energy absorbing element (14) that is stand in work-connection with a bumper structure (16) at rear side end sections of the longitudinal bars in each case. The energy absorbing element is arranged in vehicle longitudinal direction overlapped with the longitudinal bar. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a rear side underbody structure.
