Homogeneous method for determining plasminogen activator-activating activity of factor VII-activating protease (FSAP) in a sample, comprises mixing the sample with a plasminogen activator and a plasminogen activator-specific substrate, and measuring the plasminogen activator activity, where at least an activator of FSAP activity is added to the sample before the addition of plasminogen activator and the pH value of the sample is adjusted to a value of 4-8. An independent claim is included for diagnostic method for detection of persons with genetically conditioned hetero- or homozygous expression of the MRI variant of FSAP, comprising determining the plasminogen activator-activating activity of FSAP in a sample, in the absence and in the presence of a differential activity modulator, which the specific activation of the FSAP in samples of persons with genetically conditioned hetero- or homozygous expression of the MRI variant of the FSAP changes in different degree than in samples of persons, which non-express the MRI variant of the FSAP, where the plasminogen activator-activating activity of FSAP is determined with the homogeneous method.
