IMPROVED METHOD FOR PRODUCING METFORMIN SUCCINATE

PURPOSE: A method for producing metformin succinate is provided to maximize a synthesis yield for the mass production of metformin succinate and to optimize a synthesis process. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing metformin succinate comprises the steps of: (i) dissolving metformin succinate in distilled water; (ii) obtaining free base of metformin by adding inorganic bases to the metformin succinate and dissolving metformin succinate; (iii) slowly adding a succinic acid solution to a mixed solution of the inorganic base and the metformin hydrochloride; (iv) solidifying the resultant by cooling the reaction mixture and stirring the mixture; and (v) filtering, washing and drying the solid.
