The rear axle (1) has a crosspiece (28) receiving supports (6) of rear wheels (4) of a motor vehicle (2). A connection unit connects the crosspiece on a body shell of the motor vehicle to maintain a longitudinal position of the cross-piece with respect to the motor vehicle. The connection unit comprises a guiding unit that guides the cross-piece along a longitudinal axis of the motor vehicle. A motorization part i.e. hydraulic cylinder (30), displaces the crosspiece longitudinally. The guiding unit comprises a front connecting rod (20) and a rear connecting rod (26). An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle.
